Greensmith Edges Ahead on the First Morning

The opening round of the 2016 Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy is officaly underway on the gravel stages of Vodafone Rally de Portugal.

Last night our international cast of crews took to the Lousada rallycross circuit in host city Porto in front of a huge crowd.

Local Portuguese pilot Bernado Sousa took the win on SS1 and SS3, putting his superior experience to good use. Sousa is locked in a tussle with British driver Gus Greensmith, 2015 DDFT Rookie Champion, who won SS2 and SS4 and leads by six seconds.

There were also two retirements during the morning’s pass. Young hopeful Oscar Solberg of Norway rolled on the second stage of the day and had to retire. He was soon followed by Jakub BrzeziĹ„ski of Poland who damaged his R2T Ford Fiesta sufficiently to need recovery.
